How to use World Cup Nation Map

Click or tap any country on the map. Football World Cup countries are highlighted in color; countries outside the tournament are shown in gray.

A short facts popup opens with the country flag, population, FIFA rank, team value, World Cup titles, most recent World Cup title year and best World Cup placement. If the selected country has a current World Cup team, a condensed group table opens directly underneath.

The selected country is highlighted, so it is easy to see which country the popup belongs to. Great Britain is split into separate clickable football nation regions in this variant, so England and Scotland open in different places on the map. Countries not in the current football World Cup are kept gray. Click the same country again, or use Close in the popup, to remove the selection.

Use Options to change the map style or to force English country names. Otherwise, country names follow the visitor's browser language when possible.

Population comes from World Bank Open Data. Football facts use the embedded World Cup team data in this page; if a value is missing, the popup shows “-”. World Bank metadata.

Use the download button to save the current map view as a PNG. If a country facts popup is open, the same short scrollable popup view will be included in the downloaded image.

Privacy statement

This World Cup Nation Map lets you click countries to load public country facts and, for Football World Cup teams, the current group table. The search module has been removed from this version.

Country facts are loaded in your browser from embedded World Bank Open Data, with live World Bank requests only as a fallback. The map does not store selected countries on MarkAndMap servers.

On vertical mobile screens, the map may initially center roughly on your part of the world using your browser’s local time-zone/UTC offset. This is calculated locally in your browser and does not use GPS, does not request your precise browser location, and does not require a separate IP geolocation request.

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymized usage data via cookies, only if you allow cookies. No personally identifiable information is collected by MarkAndMap through this page. You can opt out when loading the page or through the "Cookies" button.
